Tucked inside the historic Llanfyllin Workhouse, Meadows Cafe is a family-run café offering homemade food, great coffee and a warm Welsh welcome in a wonderfully unusual setting. The café takes its name from Y Dolydd, the Welsh name for the Workhouse, meaning "The Meadows". The historic building has been carefully retained while Meadows Cafe has created a comfortable and welcoming space where visitors can stop for breakfast, brunch, lunch, coffee and homemade cakes. There is a strong emphasis on proper homemade food, with everything prepared on site using quality ingredients sourced from local businesses where possible. Breakfast is served throughout the day, including a traditional Full Welsh Breakfast, while the lunch menu includes jacket potatoes, ciabattas, burgers and other hearty options. There are vegetarian and gluten-free choices too, alongside a tempting selection of homemade cakes and waffles. Coffee is another important part of the Meadows Cafe experience. The café serves Blue Monday Coffee, locally roasted in Mid Wales, including its Great Taste Award-winning decaffeinated coffee. It is a lovely connection between two independent local businesses and another reason to stop for a proper coffee rather than simply passing through Llanfyllin.
